Marilyn Monroe

Our talk is about Marilyn Monroe.
Her real name is Norma Jean Baker.
She is born on one July 1926.
Marilyn didn’t had a normal childhood.
Her mother died when she was born and her father died a few years later.
She spend her whole childhood in an orphans’home or with fosterparents.
There was not much to find about her childhood so Marjolein is gonna tell you something about when Marilyn was 18 years old.
When Marilyn was 18 years old she was working in a factory where they build airplanes for practise.
Marilyn was a few weeks ill and when she got back to work there where a few photographers from the army who wanted to take pictures of her.
First she said no, but the photographers asked permission to her boss and he said that is was ok if they took some pictures of her.
After they saw the results of the pictures, they said to Marilyn that she could be a model and after that everybody wanted to take pictures of her. Everybody admires her and she became famous, A wanted star. They wanted her for pictures and also movies.
The most famous pictures of Marilyn where the ones from a scene in the movie “The Seven Year Itch”. At this scene she stands on a ROOSTER in a summer dress for cooling of (it was summer and it was really hot). When there was a train coming, her dress went up. There were photographers everywhere. Everybody wanted a picture of her in her dress.

I’m gonna tell you something about The Seven Year Itch:
In the movie a guy, Tom Ewell, fells in love with Marilyn Monroe. They live together in an apartment. There are scenes in the movie where Marilyn puts her panties in the refrigerator. And she dips her patato’s in her champagne. And of course there is the scene in the summer dress. It’s a bit of an odd movie.
Marilyn was married to three guy’s:
- Joe Dimaggio
- Arthur Miller
- Jim Dougherty
She divorced every one of them.
Marilyn also had an affair with the Kennedy’s Robert and John, which didn’t worked out. John was already married to someone.
In 1962 Marilyn song Happy Birthday to John F. Kennedy.
Everybody was in shock when she got on stage.
Now something about Marilyn’s dead:
Marilyn Monroe died on August 5 1962 of an overdose of sleeping pills.
They found her lying on her bed on her tummy.
There were many investigations about her death.
Many people believed she was murdered.
They said Marilyn never would commit suicide and they thought one of the Kennedy’s had given the FBI instructions to kill her.
Maybe she knew too much?
There was not enough evidence that Marilyn was murdered.
So we will never know how she died, did she commit suicide or was she murdered.
