Adhd, add and hd is not like a flu or a broken arm, wich can be healed. It is a disorder for you whole life.

Adhd is a mix of two brain disorders. The first one is add. When you have add, you have concentration problems, you are distracted easily, you have problems with making plans and you forget very important things. Like tickets for the airplane or your wallet. Add means attention deficit disorder

The other disorder is HD, what means Hyperactivy Disorder.
When you have that you are restless, you are always in a hurry, you want to do everything at the same time, you talk like a hurricane, and you are an emotional person.

When you have both disorders, you have adhd. There are many variations of add and adhd. For example if it is caused by brain damage.

I am going to try to give all of you an idea what goes around in the head of a adhd patient.

Run, stand up, moving your feet. As long as you can move, then it is alright.
If you are not moving, you are bored. Adhd patients have that feeling constantly. They can’t concentrate either. If you are talking to someone, who has adhd, it seems he is listening. But at the same time, the thoughts and feelings are running through his head, like racehorses. He sees a plant behind the person, that moves because of the wind. He feels his sock, it is to tight. He thinks about his breakfast at the morning. On that moment the non-adhd patient asks:
‘And what do you think?’
Most people cant understand, that the adhd patient WANTS to listen, but it is very hard.

Thats a short view in the brain of a adhd patient. But in real life is it much worse.

Adhd can not be healed 100%. There is medication that can help you control the symptoms. One of them is Ritalin.

On the box is promised you are more under control and less hyperactive. But Ritalin is not a gift from heaven. If you cut the pill in little pieces and you sniff it, you have the drug speed. And if you don’t have adhd, it makes you hyperactive and impulsive. It is a real bad drug, because if you take it longer then 6 months, you can develop a depression.

When the most people think of adhd, they think about an annoying seven year old boy, who is bumping through the room and shouts. There are a lot of teenagers and adults who have adhd. Sometimes adults don’t even realise they have a brain disorder, like adhd. They don't know any different, they have had their whole life, so they are used to being like that.

So this was my presentation, are there any questions?
