Summary

Balian (Orlando Bloom) a young blacksmith lost his family and is in grief.
His wife committed suicide because their child died.
And that day the crusader and Baron Godfrey of Ibelin visits him and announces that he’s Balians father. Godfrey asks his son to come with him to Jerusalem.
Unfortunately Godfrey got injured on their way to Messina. Godfrey knows he’s dying so he knights Balian and gives him the title Baron of Ibelin.
When Balian finally arrives in Jerusalem he’s a bit amazed of how much respect the people of Jerusalem had for his father.
Especially King Baldwin IV and the Marshall of Jerusalem, Tiberias.
King Baldwin is a Leper patient who’s going to die soon. His brother in law Guy the Lusignan dislikes Balian at the moment they met.
But that doesn’t stop Balian to have an affair with his wife Sybilla. When the King dies, Guy the Lusignan becomes the new king of Jerusalem.
While King Baldwin and the Arab King Saladin lived in peace their history troubled them a bit. At first Jerusalem was in possession of the Muslims.
But the Christian crusaders conquered it. After a 100 years Saladin wants Jerusalem back! And Guy wants war.
Eventually Guy dies. After a tough battle Balian gives Saladin back the Holy City. He and Sybilla go to French.

My Opinion:

The battle scenes are amazing! The story was kind of poor they had to extend it a bit more. And it’s odd because the movie is generally about crusades and I’ve just seen one in the whole movie! Quite a pity.
Although I think it’s a great movie and I really enjoyed watching it.
