The book begins with 2 guys and a dogsled and they are being chased by a wolf pack, slowly the numbers decrease and at the end the last guy is saved by 4 other groups of people who are carrying firearms, the wolf pack splits up as a result of famine and later the old and grizzled veteran mates with the ‘’she-wolf’’. This ‘’’she-wolf’’ is a dog and later on gives birth to 5 little hybrid cups. 4 of them die, and the male wolf dies while trying to get food, from there on it’s just the mother and her cup, soon they are found by a group of Indians, one of they called Grey Beaver recognizes the mother as his brother’s dog, however the brother is dead so he decides to take them with him to the camp, the cub called White Fang (for his very white teeth) endures incredible hardships at the Indian camp, the other sled dogs do not accept him. This causes him next to his wolf genes to become a extremely strong beast who is faster, smarter, deadlier, and stronger than al the other dogs, but it comes at a price, White Fang becomes solitary and savage, only loyal to Grey Beaver. Grey Beaver then takes him to Fort Yukon where he trades. Somebody whishes to buy White Fang after seeing him kill another dog with ease, but Grey Beaver declines, the man is dog-fighter and sets a trap for Grey Beaver, addicting him to alcohol. He later sells White Fang for Whiskey. White Fang Kills all the other animals including wolves and lynxes. knowing nothing more than Death in his life. Then he almost dies in a fight against a bulldog but is saved by Weedon Scott who becomes his new owner. He wishes to tame White Fang, this proved to be very difficult. But he succeeded. Then he travels to California where a must adjust to the laws of the estate, owned by the Scott family. He saves Weedon’s father by killing Jim Hall who tries to murder that father, he is called the blessed wolf and the story end with him relaxing in the sun with his cubs he has fathered with the sheep-dog Collie.

Jack London was an American author and journalist, he has written some well known books such as: Call of The Wild and White Fang. In his youth he really wanted to go to the university and did so by borrowing some money, he did not graduate because he could not pay. Later he went to the Klondike gold rush, this was the setting for some of his successful stories. However it was bad for health since he got kind of sick on the journey, he survived and continued writing, he received $2500 dollars in 1900 that is $66000 dollars in current value. He married twice and had some kids, he bought a ranch which he spend a lot of time on. He spent 80.000 dollars on a stone mansion on his property, it was huge (around 1200 square meters) but it was destroyed beyond salvation by a fire, just two weeks before he was moving in. Some people say he died as a result of an overdose morphine, he probably did this due to the unbearable pain he endured, this was a result of kidney failure which lead to uremia. Jack London lies in a simple grave together with his wife marked by a simple mossy boulder.

I think the most important thing in this book is the wild, especially the beginning he describes how the animals think and most importantly how white fang thinks like when he comes out of the cave he thinks the world only consists of moving and not moving things, like a stone and river. He also understands human superiority, they can make stones move and cause a lot of hurt also they set traps lure him in with meat and then punish him for a crime he committed a while ago, also he thinks he may never ever harm his owner, he did this once to Grey Beaver and was punished severely. I also noticed Jack London took time to describe what kind of scenery White Fang was in, explaining in great detail how everything worked an looked like. And during all this Jack London did a really good job in not humanizing White Fang.

• Wolves Kill Three Dogs, Injure Two Others

• Three bear dogs were killed and two injured by wolves in the past month in northwestern Wisconsin.
• Two bear training hounds were killed in Price County on Aug. 30 in the Town of Catawba on Price County Forest land. According to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, this incident was likely due to the Catawba wolf pack, which may have produced pups this spring.
• The DNR says wolves use rendezvous sites and, especially after having pups, wolves are highly defensive of both pups and rendezvous sites.
• A caution area has been set up with boundaries of County N to the west, U.S. Highway 8 to the north, State Highway 13 on the east, and County D to the south.
• On Sept. 16, wolves killed a third dog, a five-year-old female Walker hound, that was bear hunting on Bayfield County lands south of Port Wing in the Town of Orienta.
• The DNR says this is the first depredation by the Flag River wolf pack in 2011, though several depredations occurred by the pack in 2010.
• A caution area has been set up between State Highway 13 and Touve Road on the north, Battle Axe and Lenawee Road to the east, McClean Road and Fairview Road to the south, and County A on the west.
• Then, on Sept. 17, wolves injured two more dogs that were bear hunting on Douglas County land northeast of Lake Nebagamon in the Town of Brule. This incident was apparently due to the Casey Creek wolf pack, the DNR says.
• On September 17th, wolves injured two hounds while bear hunting on Douglas County lands. The depredations occurred northeast of Lake Nebagamon in the Town of Brule and were apparently due to the Casey Creek Pack. Three wolves were detected in the pack last winter and pups were probably born this spring.
The difference between my book and this news article is that they probably did this out of defense and in White Fang the Wolf pack kills out of famine, also they do not injure the dogs but eat them and leave no trace, that is because they used a female dog that joined the wolf pack to lure the sled dogs out and they kill the dog that was hoping for a good time. Got to say, nice piece of team work. Also It is in a different area since this real wolf attack was in Wisconsin and in the book it is in Oregon, about 3000 km difference.

Killer wolf dog in Fort Yukon.
Rumors are going about a hybrid wolf dog being very deadly in illegal dog fights, it has been said it has defeated multiple wolves and even a lynx.
White Fang is his name and his owner is called Beauty Smith, people do not know where this dog came from but he has not lost a single fight having won 27 fights out of 27, his owner apparently making a lot of money on bets.
But what kind of dog is this?
This dog looks more than a wolf than a dog, it’s razor sharp teeth killing all his enemies, people are talking about this dog like it is the devil himself, constantly growling and showing his teeth, more interesting is his tactic to kill his opponents, he is so fast that you almost can’t see how he killed the other dog, but careful study shows that he hits the dog with his own shoulder and then sweeps away his feet, followed by a lethal bite in the throat.
While state police is on the lookout for this dog and it’s owner they have not find them yet.

The book White Fang is a great book, for adult readers but we do not recommend this book to children since they probably won’t understand this book, Jack London’s deep thought are in this book and it is extremely satisfying to read, the book gives you a good look at nature, how unforgiving and cruel it can be and also at the animals that are being wronged by humanity, like in fights, the book is about a wolf-dog hybrid who learns and becomes a strong, cruel, smart and deadly animal and is wronged by humanity but humanity redeems herself via a man that saves the dog from death at the hands of another dog, and teaches the dog what love is. This book is a must read, surely this is one of the greatest books.

I think this is a great book, and I enjoyed reading it, which is kind of weird now I think ‘bout that because I don’t really like reading books unless they are really good, it shows how nature works and I also gives you a picture how animals look at things, how they learn what is what and how they associate some things with reward and other things with punishment, and how they learn who they belong to and how they should react to certain people for example, White Fang learns that he should react aggressively to those who are trying to be sneaky and hide their appearance but he should not react aggressively to those who come in loud and who identify themselves. Overall I give this book 8.5 points out of 10 point that is because some things were really hard to read and I advise only to read this when you’re pretty good in English or if you have translated version.
