Dorothy lived in the midst of the great Kansas prairies with uncle Henry and aunt Em. Their house was small but they all were happy. But on some day there came a cyclone that had blown Dorothy away. When the cyclone was gone he set Dorothy and her house down. When she came out of her house she saw that she was in a strange country. When she looked out of her window she saw strange people coming to her. She decides to come out of her house to meet the people. It was the witch of the nord who was good she told Dorothy that she had killed the wicked witch of the east who was very bad. The good witch told her of Oz a very great wizard in the country who can send her back to Kansas. But before she went she gave Dorothy a kiss that must protect her. After the good witch left Dorothy grab her basket and left her house. When she was walking in the fields she met a scarecrow who screamed to her, Dorothy set him free and the the scarecrow told her that he want to have brains so Dorothy told him that she was going to the great wizard to get back to Kansas so the scarecrow decide to go with her.

After a long time walking they stopped by a little house and pass there the night over. The next day they heard a man screaming it was a woodman who was made of tin. He had a wish to have a heart so he can feel love and other things. At last he decide to go with the travellers to ask Oz to give him a heart. When they passed the forest there came a big lion to them and the woodman grabbed his axe to defend his friends but the lion was very friendly so it wasn’t necessary. The lion told him that he hasn’t courage and that he is a very big coward and he want to have courage and hoped that Oz can give it him. So he decide to go with the travellers. The passed very much dangerous places but at last they came by emerald city where they asked for the great wizard but first the had to have a glass.

When they have spoke the wizard he said to them that they must kill the wicked witch of the west and then he will give them all what they need and want. So the travellers went to the city were the wicked witch of west lived. She was very bad and she them coming to her palace and tried anything to stop them but it doesn’t help.

So at last she send the winged monkeys to the who killed the scarecrow and the woodman. The winged monkeys bring them to the palace with the lion also he became a prisoner. The witch couldn’t do something because of the kiss on Dorothy’s head.

But the witch saw that Dorothy had very powerful boots that she had from the other wicked with and the witch wanted to steal it from her. So she made a plan to get them and she did it she stole one of the boots. That made Dorothy so angry that she trow water to the witch a she melt away. Dorothy gave the people of the city a job to find the woodman and the scarecrow when they were found she give them the job to repair them.

After this they left the palace and went to the palace of oz Dorothy had golden cap on her head and with this she called the winged monkeys who bring her to the city of Oz. Oz had promised that he would give them all what they wish but he wasn’t a real wizard but after a couple of days he gave them what they wanted. But Dorothy hadn’t what she want so the wizard decide to make a balloon to cross the desert. But when they want to leave the balloon went up before she was in it and the wizard left her. When her friends heard this the decided to go to the witch of the nord who can help Dorothy to pass the desert. After a lot of dangers the travellers came to the city of the good witch. The city was red painted and when a girl soldier who was painted red also saw her she came up to Dorothy.

Then the soldier asked Dorothy what her brought here and then Said Dorothy that she came here to see the good witch to bring her back to Kansas. When the girl soldier had asked it she said to Dorothy that she was welcome. Dorothy went to the witch and asked her how to come back to Kansas. The witch said that she only have to use the silver boots she only has to knock her boots together for three times and than she must say where she want to go. So she did it and before she now it she was back to the farm of aunt Em and uncle Henry.

The book is called the wonderful wizard of Oz because of the great wizard of the story who had to help Dorothy to get back to Kansas.

Woodman:
He is a man who has very much courage and he has no feeling because he hasn’t a heart. He also helped Dorothy and the others when they are in trouble. The woodman is also Handy he had chopped many trees to pass the many dangers. At last he is very smart because when they have to make a plan he has often a great idea.

The good thing of him is that he is very loyal to his friends and he help them when they are in trouble.
The bad thing of him is that he forgot to oil his joints and that he couldn’t protect Dorothy when the winged monkey came.

Wonderful Wizard of Oz:
The wizard is a very wise man but also a big liar because he said to the people of Emerald that he is a great wizard but he isn’t. But he is very handy because he made a balloon to fly away back to his own city.

The good thing of him:
He is very wise and find a way to give the travellers what they wish in spite of he isn’t a wizard.

The bad thing of him:
He is a big liar he said to everyone that he is a great wizard but he isn’t. When he made a balloon to bring him and Dorothy back to where they came from, he let Dorothy alone and she doesn’t get into the balloon because he can’t get the balloon down. That is not a good point he said that he will the wish of Dorothy will become true bad he didn’t.

The first event is very important because it is what the whole story is about. They must find the wizard to complete there mission. If they hadn’t met the great wizard they hadn’t complete their mission, because he is the only person who can help them.

The second event is important also. Oz tells Dorothy that she have to kill the wicked with of the west if she want that her wish will be come true. She has to do that or she will never come back to Kansas, but it is a very hard mission.

The setting of the story:

The setting is the wonderful world of Oz. This is very important for the story because Dorothy met a lot of personalities in this wonderful world. She also has to find the wonderful wizard to bring her back to Kansas.

Explanation score:

The score of this book is 8.5 points, this is because the book has a lot of fantasy and I like that. How can a man chop his leg of and will not die, and how is it possible that a scarecrow can talk? This book is funny, thrilling but not too much. But the book has also a gift it tells you how much important friendships are and how friends can help each other and what it means. As well The book says that a heart brains and courage aren’t everything it is more important that you use what you have.
