Opinion before reading

I have chosen this book because it seemed a nice book. en then I read the the back and it sounds great buts its a bit vague, so I think it would be a great book.

Summary

the story takes place in Mexico in 1930.
The government of Mexico is killing all priests, so there is no more Catholicism.
The main character is the last priest in Mexico, and has fled for a couple of years for the government. this priest is addicted to alcohol en because of that his nickname is The “whisky priest”. in the first part the priest will be purposed.
This happens by a conversation that he performs with a dentist named Mr Tench. after this conversation he has a conversation with Mr. Fellowes in this conversation you know that he is the only remaining priest. Therefore he tried to fled with the boat. After that you read about a boy who is searching for someone because someone is very sick. despite he will miss the boat who takes of once in 2 weeks, he goes with the boy. Because he missed the boat he tried to fled trough the mountains. Where he arrives, he remains for filling his job as priest. The priest has a daughter who he pay a visit to. He also get caught because he was illegal in possession of alcohol. He was a couple off days in the prison, but luckily recognises somebody the priest en he was released from prison. After that in the third part the priest managed to fled through the mountains but then there was a man who asked if he can come to Mexico where a man is very sick. Despite that he didn't trust it, he goes with the man. When he arrives by the sick man he will be arrested by the Lieutenant and his troops. The night before his execution he talks to the Lieutenant. this conversation shows that the Lieutenant respects the Priest. Therefore he arranges a meeting with a former priest, who is married now, so he can pray. The last part dis scribes the execution off the priest, also it appeared that his prayers worked; an other priest comes in town to take his place.

Opinion after reading

(a)It was a nice book and a nice subject but in the begin of the book it was very wordy. Then it became a nice book and easy to read but sometimes I just don't get it, it's sometimes hard to understand what the writer means. After all it was a nice book.
(b)I found the execution of the priest a interesting scene
(c)My opinion for reading was pretty close to my opinion after reading but it's a very wordy story I can't recommend it to someone else.
