1: The Power And The Glory.
2: Graham Greene.
3: Penguin
4: 11e, 222 pages.
5: The mainperson is the last Mexican priest. He is hunted and chased because of his religion. For the police he is wanted even more than a serial killer. A priest in Mexico during the anti-clerical purge in the 20s. He walks through the country, fleeing from the police and the army. On his run he passes a few villages were he hides and let the people make confessions. He is a priest with to faces: One of the caring, nice man, almost a saint. His other side is that of the ‘whiskey priest’ who drinks a lot and even has a child. He calls himself a bad priest because of this, but he gains a lot of respect from the other Christens in Mexico. But he’s still hunted and when he goes to a dying man who wants to confess he gets caught by the police. They shout him for Treason. After that he’s remembered as a saint.
6: I think it is a good title, because the priest has two things. The power to go on fleeing and the glorie of being a martyr.
7: The last part. The priest died, but people tell in forward like he died as a Hero. So he is a martyr after all.

8: The part were the a man betray the priest.
‘Well, Well,’ the priest said. ‘You again.’ ‘Oh, I know what you’re thinking,’ the half-caste said. ‘there’s not much charity in you, father. You thought all along I was going to betray you.’
‘Go,’the lieutenant said sharply. ‘You’ve done your job.’ Page 197
9: In the beginning he is on the run, but at the end he’s tired of running. He does not change in a personel way.

10: The priest, I have respect for him, because he is the last priest in the country. But I would go over the border of America. Because I don’t want to get killed.

11: A man discribed as ‘the half-caste’ He betray the priest.
12: I think it’s sad the priest was killed afterall. He was a good person.

13: Mexico. page 7: ‘...into the blazing Mexican sun...’

14: I don’t know. It is not mentioned.

15: Chronological Time. There passes a few weeks, because he stays in a couple villages for a few days. There are no flashbacks nor intervals.

16: Most a the time you are following the priest. You don’t know more than he does.

17: When he gets caught, at the end of the book.
‘A VOICE said, ‘Well, have you finished now?’ The priest got up and made a small gesture of assent. He recognized the police officer... ...He had one hand on his revolver...page 190

18: Dramatic adventure story.

19: It shows that someone who is enormously miserable can still be a good human in his heart. It shows also that there is always hope. After the priest is killed, another priest comes to Mexico.
‘If you would let me come in,’ the man said with an odd frightened smile, and suddenly lowering his voice he said to the boy, ‘I am a priest.’
‘You?’the boy exclaimed.
‘Yes,’ he said gently. ‘My name is father...’But the boy had already swung the door open and put his lips to his hand before the other could give himself a name.’

20: Yes, I think it is a nice story. It’s not boring and quite good to read.
