The title is Harry Potter and the philosopher\'s stone. The Writer choose this title because it\'s a book about Harry Potter and the philosopher’s stone is the main object. The philosopher\'s stone was first mentioned as You-know-what in vault seven hundred and thirteen (page 57).

Later to be mentioned as “The Philosopher\'s stone\".

Harry Potter has many genres.

Fantasy is obvious. It can’t be true, imagine an evil wizard named Voldemort who lives in the UK seeking for the eternity of life.

Adventure: Harry goes thru many adventures to fight the Dark Lord.

Mystery: The plot is thick with some unresolved questions.

Horror: Maybe, Voldemort can be scary. But he’ll only scare little children.(Not me a 16year old bloke)


Main characters
Harry Potter: Harry Potter is the famous eleven year old child of Lily and James Potter, who is the only known wizard to have survived any attack from Voldemort. He’s a weak boy with glasses and brown messy hair with a scar on his forehead. He’s a round character, he learns from his mistakes acts like a real human being with magical powers. He was once just a human with no friends at all but that all changed at the age of eleven where he knew that he had magical powers. Where he had found friends like Rone Weasley and Hermione Granger.

Ron Weasley: Ron Weasley is the youngest son of the enormous Weasley clan and on of Harry Potter’s best friends. He has red hair and freckles he’s smart at chess , weak at doing magic and sometimes acts really dumb and silly But he’s a trustworthy friend sacrificing his own life to help his friends. He’s a flat character thou he learns from his mistake but other than that he’s just plain Ron Weasley.

Hermione Granger: Hermione Granger is a intelligent bookish girl. She has long hair, skinny and is good with magic. She is also one of the few wizards who come from a regular muggle (people with no magical powers) family. She’s honest, reliable, carefree, curious, gentle girl.
She’s a flat character, she doesn’t change much throughout the whole book, she’s just a plain nerdy/bookish girl.

Rubeus Hagrid : The one who changed Harry Potter life, Telling him that he’s a wizard saving him from the Dursleys and introducing him to the wizard’s world, Diagon alley, and bringing him to Hogwarts. He’s clumsy, simpleminded giant with a long beard and long hair, many wizards use a wand to do magic but he used an umbrella. The weak side of Hagrid is that he cant keep secrets he often blurts out secrets that should be kept silent. He’s a flat character, Having only one characteristic that stands out.

Voldemort/Professor Quirrel: Voldemort is the evil villain in the book, the murderer of Potters parents and the creature who plans to kill harry. His name is rarely said by wizards and causes fear among who think of him. He was once a good wizard but his ideas and powers went to the dark side, and now he lives his life in different hosts such as Quirrel. Voldemort is a bold scary man. He’s a flat character. Professor Quirrel is the host of voldemort and one of the teachers at Hogwarts. He’s a shy man who stutters too much, although he seems to be blackmailed and conrolled by snape, Quirrel is th evil one. He ultimately tries to kill Harry. He wears a turban at all times wich covers the head of voldemort living underneath and he also is a flat character.

Draco Malfoy: Draco Malfoy is the arch enemy of Harry Potter. He is constantly teasing and taunting Harry, Ron, Hermoine and tricks them into finding trouble. Draco is from a long line spoiled wizards and some who have followed Voldemort in the past. He has his hair to the back and acts tough whereas he really is a wuss (The Forbidden Forest). He’s a flat character only knowing one side of him never changes throughout the book.


Theme
The best theme for this book is probably the heroic quest. As the story goes Harry steps into the mystic stages of a hero’s journey not letting the stone fall in the hand of evil people. Which other eleven year old at the Hogwarts would have adventures where u will be putting ur life in danger.


The Story
The Story began and ended in the real life world but midway the story plays at the magical school Hogwarts and the places all around the school such ass The Forbidden Forest.


Chapters
The book has seventeen chapters, In the book at every chapter you have Chapter One, Chapter Two etc. So the division was made by the number of chapter and the name of the chapter.


Point of view
The story is told at a omniscient point of view where both the reader and the author observe the situation trough the senses and thoughts of various characters. The language that has been used was certainly not you every-day-language it had some sophisticated words whereas a dictionary would come in handy. The book has a open end because as the story ended u don’t know what will happen with him will he still be bullied in the summer will he have a suckish summer and will happen next year and the 2nd grade of Hogwart magic school.


The Author
J.K. Rowling, Joanna Kathleen Rowling. Her originally name is Joanne Rowling without the K from Kathleen where it comes from her grand mother.

She has studied French and classic culture in the university of Exeter in . In 1990 she went to Portugal to teach English. In Portugal she met Tv-Journalist Jorge Arantes Which would later be her fiancé. In 1993 she gave birth to Jessica. The marriage didn’t go so well and Rowling and her daughter went to Scotland Edinburgh. There she wrote 2 books for adult, but didn’t find it good enough to sent it to a publisher. In 1990 she came up on a train voyage on a story about a lonely underaged magician. She wrote seven books about that story. After couple of publishers refused to publish her piece it was finally published by the Bloomsbury in 1997. Her agent Christopher little sold her book later to a American publisher which gave miss Roling a whoping €105,000.

In 2005 Rowling gave birth to a son David Gordon and in 2005 to a girl Mackenzie.

In the summer of 2007 she sold more than 350million copies of all her seven books in 65 languages, and got a total of 8milliard euros. Because of this she became the richest woman in England.


Conclusion
Harry Potter some may find it a very good book some a very hateful book. I myself find it a rather interesting but boring story, Because it was so interesting the adventure the places of all the names and wanting to know what will happen next, how will harry potter defeat Voldemort hows the fight going to be. Because of all these questions in my head I wanted to read it till the end , but I must say it was quite boring there wasn’t many good actions and the fight between Voldemort and Harry Potter himself was rubbish. Maybe if it was Professor snap vs Voldemort it would be more interesting but Harry Potter Potter versus Voldemort?, No thanks.


Summary
Harry potter is a orphan where he lived with his uncle and aunt and cousin, The family. Harry’s room is the storeroom on the staircase. Harry is treated badly because his aunt and uncle really dislike him. The son Dudley of the aunt and uncle is a fat and spoiled brat. On a morning a letter arrived for harry, right away Dudley took it from Harry’s hand and gave it to his dad his dad directly shredded it. And later 4 letter arrived. He burned it. And still harry would receive letters from the postbox etc. Mr Dursley then moved to a other placed where’s there would be no mail at all but he was wrong. The letter once again was coming but by a big giant with long hair and a beard named hagrid on Harry’s potter birthday. The giant knocked the door down to come in and out of shock the family dursley woke up and went down with a shotgun neverthless harry potter received his letter that he’s accepted to Hagwart magical school.

Hagrid takes Harry to Diagon Alley, where he retrieves some of his inheritance from Gringotts, the wizard bank, and purchases his books, wand, and robes from the Leaky Cauldron and Ollivanders. On the train to Hogwarts at platform Nine and Three Quarters, Harry meets his new friend Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. Everyone is amazed to meet the famous Harry Potter. On the train Harry also meets Draco Malfoy, a boy with whom he develops a distrust and hatred. At Hogwarts, the children meet Dumbledore, McGonagall, Snape, and Quirrell, all professors and wizards. At the opening banquet, the Sorting Hat decides in which house the children live, sorting Hermione, Neville, Ron, and Harry into Gryffindor, and Draco Malfoy into Slytherin, the house run by Snape and known to have schooled Voldemort in years past.

Hermione busies herself with studies and ron with chess and Harry with learning about his family and powers. He becomes and expert in flying and as a first year he is allowed to play Quidditch for Gryffindor’s team as the seeker.Draco malfoy tries to get the Gryffindor’s kids in trouble by setting them up and dragging them away from their beds at the wrong time. One day, professor Quirrel came half breath at lunchtime in the eatings room and shouted troll in the dungeon. Whereas hermoine wasn’t there to hear the news because ron insulted her by talking rubbish behind her back. They where going to warn hermoine about the troll. They found her in the bathroom and found the troll they where trying to stop the troll and at last they defeated the troll and rescued Hermione from death. From then on the three spies on Snape and Quirrel and seek to discover the secrets at Hogwarts. They realize that the Philosopher’s Stone is hidden by a three-headed dog at Hogwarts and is the secret to eternal life created by Nicholas Flamel. They believe Snape is the culprit behind the evil and try to stop him from destroying Harry and Hogwarts.

Meanwhile, Hagrid keeps an eye on Harry and looks out for him. They visit Hagrid and meet his new pet dragon, Norbert. Norbert causes problems for everyone, as dragons are illegal animals. The three send the dragon away to Romania under Harry\'s Invisibility Cloak and are discovered out of bed doing so. They are branded and punished with detention and stricken of fifty points each. As detention the kids must help clean up the Forbidden Forest with Hagrid. They find a unicorn slaughtered, with its blood scattered across the ground, and are frightened by an evil spirit. The good centaur Firenze flies Harry away from danger in the forest as soon as he discovers who Harry is.

Harry, Ron, and Hermione discover that Voldemort tricked Hagrid into revealing the method by which to get past the three-headed dog and to the Sorcerer\'s Stone. They rush past the dog, and through the chambers to stop Voldemort from killing Harry. Ron gets everyone past the life sized Wizard\'s Chess board, while Hermione breaks the riddle that allows Harry to proceed to the ultimate chamber under ground. He sees the Mirror of Erised, the same mirror that shows the hopes and dreams of the person who looks inside. He finds Quirrell in the chamber without his stutter. He admits to hosting Voldemort and trying to destroy Harry in the forest. When his turban is removed, Harry sees a double face on top of Quirrell\'s head - it is Voldemort, and he wants to use Harry to get the Stone and then kill him. Harry discovers the Stone in his pocket and tries to kill Voldemort/Quirrel until he blacks out.

Harry awakens in the infirmary to Dumbledore congratulating him. He saved the Stone, Hogwarts, and his own life. Because of his bravery and that of Hermione, Ron, and Neville, Gryffindor wins the House Cup for the year.
