Title: Death on the Nile
Author: Agatha Christie
Written in year: 1937

Author: Agatha Christie (Agatha Mary Clarissa Frary Miller) was born on September 15th 1890. She became famous because of her crime stories with Poirot. I don´t see any links between her live and things that occur in the book.

Most of the story takes place on the Nile. In the book it isn´t mentioned in wich time it all takes place. It is a time with maids

Linnet Ridgeway: She is a young and very beautiful girl. She is very rich because her mother was the daughter of one of those millionaire blokes. In the beginning she is in love with Charles Windlesham, but then she meets Simon Doyle and she falls in love with him and he with her. They marry and go on honeymoon to Egypt.
Hercule Poirot: he is a very clever Belgium detective with an egg-shaped head and a black moustache.
Joanna Southwood: she is a good friend of Linnet Ridgeway. She is a niece of Tim Allerton.
Jacqueline de Bellefort: she is already for a long time a good friend of Linnet Ridgeway till Linnet Ridgeway steals her fiancée, Simon Doyle. First everybody thought that Jacqueline was a very nice girl, but when Linnet marries to Simon she follows them everywhere.
Simon Doyle: he is the fiancé of Jacqueline de Bellefort. He’s a big and square and incredibly simple, boyish and utterly adorable.
I don’t recognise others or myself in these characters.

The main theme of the book is romance, murder and detective, because everything is about the love of Linnet Ridgeway and Simon Doyle and everybody who is jealous or just going the same way (over the Nile). In the end it´s about the murder who has to be solved by a detective

The story is told in many short chapters. In the beginning they describe and tell something about each character who plays in the story. And then they all meat in Egypt and the story goes on..

In the end Poirot founds out that Simon Dolye killed Linnet Ridgeway. Simon is carried along the deck to the gangway with a stretcher, because there were no medicines at board of the cruise ship Simon Doyle is dying Jackie comes to him. He says that he is sorry that he admitted everything. She says it is al right. Than she bows downwards. You hear a sharp explosive ´pop.´ Simon Doyle gave a shudder and than lay still. Jacqueline stood still for a minute and putted the pistol to her heart. Than she shots herself. Simon now got a better death than a long and painful death because of the shot in his leg. It ended up like a tragedy.
I think this is a said ending, but it is better than if Simon died because of the wound. Jacqueline shots him because she is so in love with him So Simon and Jacqueline died for love and I think that is very beautiful.

What is in the Rose bottle of nail paint and for what is it used? There is red ink in it. It is a link with the faintly stained handkerchief which had been wrapped round the pistol.
