The Renaissance.
The Beginning of Classic’s Rebirth.
Everybody has heard of the Renaissance. Most people know it as a living style, but it was also a kind of art.
In the Renaissance the classic Greek and Roman culture became an addiction to the people. The politicians wanted to lead their countries like the classic Greeks and Romans did, the artists wanted to make paintings and sculptures like the classic Greeks and Romans did and the architects wanted to design buildings like the classic Greeks and Romans did. Shortly, they copied the way of the Classic Greek and Roman living.
The Renaissance excisted out of several periods.
The Early Renaissance.
The High Renaissance.
Mannerism.
The Early Renaissance lasted from 1420 until 1500 and started in Florence, although some characteristics were also seen in 1300.
The High Renaissance lasted from 1500 until 1530 and the Mannerism lasted from 1520 until 1600. It was overlapping the Renaissance and the Baroque.
The Classic Art’s Rebirth.
In the Renaissance the Art became far more realistic. The proportions were very important and shown really well, as were the muscles.
Because of the good economy, it was possible to create realistic paintings. This costed a lot of money and a lot of time. But the Renaissance reached several climaxes. Three very famous artists of the Renaissance were:
Leonardo Da Vinci (1452-1519)
Raphaël Sanzio (1483-1520)
Michelangelo Buanarroti (1475-1564)
Artist like these three men were also known as uomo universales, which means Universal human. This was very important in the Renaissance. As an artist you had a lot of talents and you had to use these talents.
Leonardo da Vinci was known as :
Scientist (Human proportians); Painter (Mona Lisa); Filosopher; Sculptor; Architect; Musician; Mathematician; Engineer; Inventor(Flying machine); Botanist; Writer; Geologist.
Raphaël Sanzio was known as:
Painter (The school of Athens)and architect (Palazzo Aquila)
Michelangelo Buanarroti was known as:
Painter; Architector (Medici Chapel); Sculptor (Statue of Dav id); Poet; Engineer.
I chose this fresco called School of Athens , to tell about, because it images the Renaissance exactly.
It was painted between 1510 and 1511 on a wall in the Apostolic Palace in the Vatican.
