Hello everybody I’m going to tell you something more about my favorite hobby: gymnastics. I do gymnastics in a club, t.k. Olympia. This is de t-shirt and the training:. First, a little bit of history of gym. Gymnastics is an activity that already exists for more than 3000 years. The Egyptians liked to build human pyramids and doing tricks but the Greek people were the first who saw a real sport in gym, and they liked to organize competitions. That’s how the Olympic games came about. When the Romans conquered Greece, they saw in gymnastics a military exercise. With the fall of Rome gymnastics disappeared till 1700, when a man named Frederik Jahn invented gymnastics again and now it is one of the most practiced sports in the world.
Now, I’m going to explain you some exercises. First of all, you have the exercises on the mat. There you have the rad, an exercise where you have stretch your body and first put you left hand on the ground and then your right one. Then you swing your legs up like this. The handstand is a bit like a rad, but you put your hands at the same time on the ground. The following discipline is especially for men, the rings. You have to be very strong to do those exercises correctly. You have the cross and the planche. As you can see you need to have many power do do those exercises.
The next discipline is the Parallel Bars. The exercises on that toestel are not that hard, but you also will need power to do them.
The last discipline is named acro. Acro is for acrobatic gymnastics. To do acro, you have to be very limber and strong. My club has an acro group and they join contests. (My sister is in acro to and I could borrow this trophy). The exercises of acro are almost always with couples of two or tree persons, as you can see on the pictures.
